All That Stands Between Us

 Struggle all through them avenues

Snakelike and hostile though they be

These tenuous defences I engender

All that stands between us

Subtle twists to navigate

The heat of your emotions

Burning the way

Your eyes shining so bright

Your mind full of night

Lending you strength to persevere

You never should have ventured here

Your hands bent and hard

Bent and twisted into claws

Sweat upon your body glistens

Drips all down leaves trails

Along the dusty ground

Like breadcrumbs

As you grope towards your goal

Not knowing when cometh the fall

Moving forward relentless

Until we meet

Love and hate our weapons drawn

All that stands between us

Oh Beautiful Dancer My Strayborn Thief

 You cannot halt

What cannot wait

You cannot fail to

Comprehend and

Accept your fate

Embrace the inner

Shed what is

Superfluous

And ungainly

Like an old skin slough off

Oh weary sinner

Oh beautiful dancer

Dance along the battle lines

Dodge well the weapons arranged against thee

And suffer not the serrated barbs

Subtly bend and twist and thrust

Between the points and through the gaps

Strike then while you can and when

The moment presents

The salvating blow

Redeeming faith

In justice or revenge

My strayborn thief

My heartburned killer

You cannot stop

What's motion forced

You cannot falter

Or alter course

Accept the design

Of what's been done

Avoiding perils sure to come

Go quickly now in thought and deed

The hunters to come relentlessly

Take my love along with thee

Oh lusty friend

Of my erstwhile heart
